Renaucourt

Renaucourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Renaucourt situated at an altitude of 215 m above sea level, 11 km northeast of Dampierre- sur-Salon and about 29 km west of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the west of the department, in the northwest of the plateau landscape Saônetals, in the Talniederung the Gourgeonne.

The area of ​​6.14 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau north of the Saônetals. The eastern boundary runs mostly along the Gourgeonne that flows with many windings through the Alluvialniederung and provides drainage to the Saône. The flood plain is, on average, 210 meters and has a maximum width of one kilometer. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward to the adjacent plateau, which reaches an average height of 240 m. The plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the upper Jurassic period. The plateau is divided by several valleys which open to the Valley of Gourgeonne. In the Talniederung and on the plateau dominates agricultural use. To the west the area stretches into the vast grove of Vieux Bois and to the northwest in the Bois du Chanois. With 260 m is reached on the plateau of Fran Court is the highest elevation of Renaucourt.

History

Renaucourt Beza is already in the year 1060 as Rainaldi curtis first time in a chronicle of the monastery mentioned. Later, the names Regnacourt, Regnaulcourt and Renaucour published. The place name derives from the Germanic personal name Rainald and the old French word Cortem (Hof ) from. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The sovereignty over the territory was up to the Lords of Fouvent, while the local government held the noble family of Lavoncourt. The place was looted and burned in 1569 by troops of the Duke of Zweibrücken. Together with the Franche -Comté Renaucourt came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. From 1775 to 1867, a blast furnace was in operation. Today Renaucourt is a member of the 42 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Quatre Rivières.

Attractions

The Saint- Valentin was built in 1855 in neo-Gothic style and has a wealth of furniture from the 19th century, as well as notable stained glass windows. Population

With 107 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Renaucourt one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 272 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Since the 18th century the economic life of the village was dominated by iron and steel works. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, especially in the sectors of agricultural machinery and precision engineering. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Lavoncourt after Pisseloup. Further road links exist with Volon, Villers- Vaudey, Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt and Mont -Saint- Léger.
