Republican Turkish Party

Cumhuriyetci Türk Partisi ( CTP abbreviation ) ( Turkish to German Republican Party) is a social democratic party in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The CTP was founded on December 27, 1970 under the leadership of Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu and is the oldest Turkish Cypriot party. It is an associate member of the Socialist International.

In the elections of 2005, the CTP got 44.51 percent of the votes and could thus 25 of the 50 seats in the parliament of the Republic of claiming for itself.

In the early parliamentary elections of 19 April 2009, the CTP has won 15 of the 50 seats with 29.15 percent of the vote.
