Rešica

Rešica (Hungarian residues; German radicals or Reschte ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with a population of 346 (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The community is located about 24 kilometers southwest of Kosice and directly on the border with Hungary. The 12.5 km ² large municipality covers a portion of the basin Košická kotlina and the south adjoining hills Bodvianska pahorkatina (Hungarian Cserehát ). The center is located at an altitude of 192 m nm, the highest elevations in the municipality of Mark Cerveny Grúnik with 305m and the Kraľov vrch 307 m above the sea on the Hungarian border. The flat terrain in the north of the parish is drained by the Ida, its tributary Konotopa and numerous canals and ditches.

Neighboring communities of Rešica are Mokrance and Čečejovce in the north, Buzica in the east, and Büttös Kany in the south and Janík in the West.

History

In 1319 the village was first mentioned in writing as Rechita. About Rechyte ( 1395 ) and Restha (1630 ), the name of the village has gradually evolved into Rešica. The Hungarian-speaking residents called it has always leftovers. In the Middle Ages had several dominions owned shares in the village, the families Abovcov, Fiszkov, Omodyov and Gedeonov In 1590 the village was looted and burned down by the Tatars. For the upcoming reconstruction and resettlement of the inhabitants were exempted from 1620 for some years from taxes. 1828 Rešica had 83 houses with 550 inhabitants in 1910 were counted 441 residents. By the Treaty of Trianon, the village to the county Abaúj- Torna was in the Kingdom of Hungary and like all places lying in this county, and Hungarian-speaking majority came Rešica now Czechoslovakia. After the First Vienna Award of 1938, the municipalities were to 1945 again in Hungary.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Rešica 377 inhabitants, of which

  • 1.49% Roma.

Attractions

Immediately adjacent are the old and new Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Rosary ( Rímskokatolícky kostol Panny Márie Ružencovej ). The old church, consecrated in 1928, was financed entirely by the faithful. Building material for the roof came from a previous building, which had to be demolished. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new church took place in 2003, in 2006 it was completed

Economy and infrastructure

Still Agriculture plays a major role in Rešica. In the wide, crisscrossed by canals plain in the north feed and grains are grown mainly in the south can be found next to fruit cultivation areas isolated on sheltered slopes and vineyards. The residents work in agriculture or commute to the industries in and around Košice.

From Rešica a country road leads to Kechnec at the I/68 / E 71 from the neighboring community of Buzica lead connecting roads in the cities of Moldava nad Bodvou and Košice. The nearest train station is in Komárovce on the railway line Košice - Barca Rožňava ten kilometers away.
