Rhys Ifans

Rhys Ifans ( born July 22, 1967 in Haverfordwest, Wales ) is a British actor.

Life and achievements

Ifans grew up in Ruthin (Wales). His first language is Welsh. At the age of 18 he moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Ifans played in the years 1990-1992 on the television series Sparrow, in the years 1993-1994 on the television series Night Shift. In the film, Street Life (1995 ) he took a starring role in the film August ( 1996), he starred opposite Anthony Hopkins; in the comedy The Twin Town ( 1997), he again took over one of the main roles.

International introduced him the role of Spike, the chaotic roommate of William Thacker ( Hugh Grant) in the film comedy Notting Hill ( 1999). In the thriller You Are Dead (1999) he played alongside John Hurt one of the main roles, like in the thriller Extreme Risk ( 2000), in which he appeared alongside Joseph Fiennes and Tara Fitzgerald. His voice was heard A Christmas Tale ( 2001) in addition to the voices of Simon Callow, Kate Winslet and Nicolas Cage in the animated film. For his role in the film Liebeswahn - Enduring Love (2004) Ifans was nominated for the British Empire Award. For his role in the TV film Not Only But Always, he won the BAFTA TV Award. After being in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2010: Part 1 appeared as Xenophilius Lovegood, father of Luna Lovegood and editor of the " Quibbler ", he played in 2011 in Shakespeare thriller Anonymous by Roland Emmerich, the main role of the "true" author of the Shakespeare's works Edward de Vere.

Beginning of the nineties was Ifans briefly singer of the Welsh band Super Furry Animals on their debut album Fuzzy Logic he appeared as a guest. In 2005 he played the lead role in the music video The Importance Of Being Idle by British rock band Oasis. Ifans appeared at the Royal National Theatre in London and at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. He lives in London's Pimlico.
