Robert Gesink

Robert Gesink ( born May 31, 1986 in Varsseveld ) is a Dutch racing cyclist.

Career

Robert Gesink was 2004 Dutch junior time trial champion. He turned pro at Löwik Meubelen - Van Losser 2005. In 2006, Gesink Rabobank Continental. In the Algarve Tour he won for a second place on the royal stage in third place in the overall standings. In 2006 he won then one stage and the overall at the Lombard week and at the Circuito Montanes. On June 17, 2010, he won the queen stage of the Tour de Suisse from Meiringen to La Punt and thus took over the yellow jersey.

At the Olympic road race in Beijing in 2008 Gesink finished ninth.

After Gesink had the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal won in 2010, three years later, he managed the victory at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec. Gesink, making it the first and only rider to win both Canadian UCI World Tour race.
