Robert Graham (sculptor)

Lionel Robert Graham ( born August 19, 1938 in Mexico City; † December 27, 2008 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American sculptor.

Graham studied from 1961 to 1963 at the State San Jose State University and the private San Francisco Art Institute in California, where in 1964 he graduated. In 1972 he exhibited in Dallas at the Museum of Fine Arts. On the occasion of the XXIII. Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles Robert Graham designed the relief on the nearly ten -meter-high bronze doors of the Memorial Coliseum. These symbolize the forty cultures, including those of the natives of Los Angeles. Robert Graham was married from 1992 until his death with actress Anjelica Huston ( born 1951 ); the couple lived in Venice. The marriage remained childless.

On 6 December 2006 Graham was taken by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his work in the California Hall of Fame. In December 2008, Graham died after a long illness at the age of 70 years.
