Roc Raida

Roc Raida ( born May 18, 1972 in New York City, USA, † September 19, 2009 ) was an American DJ, music producer and one of the greatest turntablists. He was also known as a member of the band X - Ecutioners.

Career

Roc Raida was born in 1972 under the name of Anthony Williams. Through his father, who had been a member of the rap group Mean Machine, Williams came in his childhood in contact with hip- hop music. At the age of ten he first worked on turntables. In 1989, Raida DJ group X -Men, their composition changed several times over the years. Other important members were Steve Dee, Rob Swift and Total Ecplise.

In 1995, Roc Raida became World Champion at the DMC DJ World Championships. 1997 X-Men were a record deal with the label Asphodel Records, making them the first all- DJ group was next to the originating from San Francisco Invisibl Skratch Piklz formation that could sign a contract with a music label. For legal reasons the band before the release of the first album had to change their name to X - Ecutioners. In September 1997, the debut album X - Pressions was published.

Roc Raida published in 1997 his first solo album. This appeared under the title The Adventures of Roc Raida ... One Too Many! on the label Fat Beats. He was inducted into the DMC Hall of Fame in 1999. A year later the album Crossfaderz, on the common, among other songs with DJ QBert, DJ Premier, The Beatnuts, Diamond D, Common and Big L are included. We Them Niggas was released in 2001 as the third solo album.

2002 was followed by the second album of the X - Ecutioners. Built from Scratch appeared on Loud Records, Sony Music, and features guest contributions by numerous prominent musicians, including Xzibit, Kool G Rap, Big Punisher, MOP, Large Professor, Biz Markie and Everlast. A third album was released under the title Revolution of 2004. Again created pieces with well-known musicians such as Ghostface Killah, Cypress Hill, Fat Joe, and Rob Zombie.

2007 appeared the last release of Roc Raida. The album produced from it beats, Cuts and Skits appeared on the label Adiar Cor Records. Guests, among other Dilated Peoples and Linkin Park are represented. On the morning of 19 September 2009 Williams died. The cause of death was cardiac arrest, called the had occurred as a result of a sports accident. Most recently, he was active as an official tour DJ by Busta Rhymes.
