For both artists, they played on their solo albums in the second half of the 1970s, but in 1980 also brought an LP under the band name Rockpile out.

Band History

The story of Rockpile began in 1970, when Dave Edmunds released his biggest hit. The number-one single, " I Hear You Knocking " was in the British charts officially listed as Dave Edmunds ' Rockpile published. In 1972, Edmunds released his first solo album, which he also " Rockpile " called. With the musicians who played on this LP, he then went as Dave Edmunds and Rockpile on tour. There were, among others Edmunds ' Love Sculpture former colleague John Williams, ex -Love- Sculpture and man- drummer Terry Williams and guitarist Andy Fairweather -Low (formerly at Amen Corner). On a second tour Pick Withers replaced (later of Dire Straits ) Terry Williams. This first Rockpile incarnation was one of the pioneers of Pubrockszene.

Nick Lowe learned Edmunds and Terry Williams know in the scene when he was still playing with Brinsley Schwarz. Edmunds produced in 1974 Brinsley Black Album, Lowe played in the following year on Edmunds ' solo album " Subtle as a Flying Mallet ". In 1976, Billy Bremner to Lowe, Edmunds and Williams, and the four went (as the opening act for Bad Company ) under the name Rockpile on tour.

The band played in 1979 both Nick Lowe's solo album " Labour of Lust " and Dave Edmunds ' album " Repeat When Necessary " a; until 1980, she released an album as Rockpile, "Seconds of Pleasure ". The LP rose on October 18, 1980 in the British charts and climbed to number 34; a decoupled single (" Teacher, Teacher" ) was also a minor hit. The band once again went on tour together, but broke up in 1981 Edmunds and Lowe devoted themselves back to their solo projects. ; Bremner temporarily replaced the late James Honeyman -Scott with the Pretenders and worked as a songwriter, producer and solo artist at Stiff Records; Terry Williams played for Dire Straits and many others.
