Roddy Woomble

Roddy Woomble ( born August 13, 1976 in Irvine, Scotland ) is a Scottish singer songwriter, known as the lead singer of the rock band Idlewild.

Woomble 1995 co-founded with Rod Jones, Phil Scanlon and Colin Newton, the band Idlewild, which has so far released six albums.

In addition Woomble worked with, among others, in The Reindeer Section, a Scottish indie super group and appeared on the album Girl Who Could not Fly the English folk singer Kate Rusby.

On 24 July 2006, published his first Woomble, influenced by the Scottish folk solo album, My Secret Is My Silence, produced by Scottish folk musician John McCusker. Besides McCusker also the folk singers Kate Rusby and Karine Polwart worked with on this album.

Launched in 2007, Woomble the CD Ballads of the Book, on which Scottish musicians such as Aereogramme, Vashti Bunyan, Karine Polwart and Idlewild have to lyrics written and performed Scottish writers such as Edwin Morgan and Ian Rankin songs.
