Rodolfo Gómez

Rodolfo Gómez ( Rodolfo Gómez Orozco, born October 30, 1950) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner.

In 1975 he was Central America and Caribbean champion over 10,000 meters and 1977 over 5000 m. At the Pan American Games in 1975 he won bronze in the 5000m and silver in the 10,000 m and 1979 bronze in the 5000m and 10,000 m gold. In 1978 he won at the Central American and Caribbean Games, both over 5000 m as well as over 10,000 m.

At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, he launched over 5,000 m, 10,000 m and the marathon. In the track events, he left each in the run, marathon, he finished 19th place.

In 1980 he was at the Olympic Games in Moscow in sixth in the marathon, while he did not come via the feed beyond 10,000 m. In the same year he finished second at the New York City Marathon.

The following year he won the Tokyo International Women's Marathon and finished seventh in New York. In 1982, he won the Golden Athens Marathon, the Rotterdam Marathon, the Oregon Track Club Marathon and was second again in New York. In 1983 he was off third in Tokyo and Rotterdam and was eliminated at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki over 10,000 m from the inlet port.

In a marathon, the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he did not reach the goal. His last major success was the victory at Pittsburgh Marathon 1987.

Rodolfo Gómez is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. Since the end of his athletic career, he has been a successful coach and supervised, among others Martín Pitayo, Andres Espinoza, Germán Silva and Adriana Fernández.
