History

The Diocese of Arezzo - Cortona - Sansepolcro was built in the 3rd century as the Diocese of Arezzo. The Diocese of Arezzo announced on November 10, 1561 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese of Montepulciano.

On 30 September 1986 the diocese of Arezzo were annexed by the Congregation for Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis the bishoprics of Cortona and Sansepolcro. The Diocese of Arezzo - Cortona - Sansepolcro is the Archbishopric of Florence, is a suffragan.
