Roman Catholic Diocese of Kandy
The Diocese of Kandy (Latin: Dioecesis Kandiensis ) is a location in Sri Lanka Roman Catholic diocese based in Kandy.
History
The Diocese of Kandy was posted on April 20, 1883 by Pope Leo XIII. out of territory of the Diocese of Colombo, established as Apostolic Vicariate of Kandy.
On September 1, 1886, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kandy was Leo XIII. applicable to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Colombo is a suffragan. The Diocese of Kandy was on December 18, 1972 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Badulla.
