Roman Catholic Diocese of Peterborough

The Diocese of Peterborough (Latin: Dioecesis Peterboroughensis ) is a location in Canada Roman Catholic diocese based in Peterborough.

History

The Diocese of Peterborough was posted on January 25, 1874 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the Diocese of Kingston built as Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Canada. The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Canada was on July 11, 1882 by Pope Leo XIII. raised to the bishopric and renamed Diocese Peterborough. It was the Archdiocese of Kingston is a suffragan. The Diocese of Peterborough, on 16 September 1904 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Sault Sainte Marie.
