Roman Catholic Diocese of Quy Nhơn

The Diocese of Quy Nhon (Latin: Dioecesis Quinhonensis, Vietnamese: Giao Phan Quy Nhon ) is a location in Vietnam Roman Catholic diocese based in Quy Nhon.

History

Pope Innocent X founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Cochin on September 9, 1659 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Macau. 1662 sites were submitted to the foundation of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam and 1680 there was a part of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate from Fujian.

On March 2, 1844 Vicariate Apostolic of Cochin was divided into the Apostolic Vicariate Westcochin and Ostcochin.

At the Apostolic Vicariate Nordcochin the Apostolic Vicariate Ostcochin lost on 27 August 1850 is a piece of territory. On 3 December 1924, took the name Apostolic Vicariate Quinhon.

On January 18, 1932, lost parts of its territory to the Apostolic Vicariate of Kontum and on 5 July 1957, the Apostolic Vicariate of Nha Trang.

With the Apostolic Constitution Venerabilium Nostrorum it was collected on 24 November 1960 bishopric. On January 18, 1963, lost part of its territory to the Diocese of Da Nang.
