Roman Catholic Diocese of Sololá-Chimaltenango

The Diocese of Solola - Chimaltenango (Latin: Dioecesis Sololensis - Chimaltenangensis ) is located in Guatemala Roman Catholic diocese based in Solola. It comprises the departments Solola and Chimaltenango.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the bishopric of Solola on March 10 in 1951 of territory of the Diocese of Quetzaltenango, Los Altos and the Archbishopric of Guatemala, where it was a suffragan.

A part of the territory it gave to the diocese of Santa Cruz del Quiché on 27 April 1967. On February 13, 1996, it was part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Los Altos Quetzaltenango - Totonicapán and received in the same year, the current name.
