Roman Catholic Diocese of Tezpur

The diocese of Tezpur (Latin: Dioecesis Tezpurensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Tezpur.

History

The diocese of Tezpur was posted on January 16, 1964 by Pope Paul VI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Fidei catholicae of annexations of the dioceses Dibrugarh and Shillong. On March 30, 1992, the diocese of Tezpur were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Guwahati. A further transfer of territory took place on 7 December 2005 establishing the diocese of Itanagar.

It is the Archdiocese of Guwahati is a suffragan.

Territory

The diocese of Tezpur comprises the districts of Darrang, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur and Nagaon district located in subdivisions Kaliabor, Rupahihat and Samuguri in the state of Assam.
