History

The diocese Vijayapuram was on July 14, 1930 by Pope Pius XI. built out of territory of the Archdiocese of Verapoly and this is a suffragan.

The diocese comprises the districts Vijayapuram Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta in Kerala.
