Roman Catholic Diocese of Zanzibar

The Diocese of Zanzibar ( Latin: Dioecesis Zanzibarensis ) is a location in Tanzania Roman Catholic diocese based in Zanzibar town.

History

The Diocese of Zanzibar was on December 12, 1964 Splitting of the diocese of Mombasa and Zanzibar by Pope Paul VI. established as Apostolic Administration of Zanzibar and Pemba. Areas of the Governorship also came from the archdioceses Nairobi and Dar -es- Salaam. On 24 March 1980, the Apostolic Administration of Zanzibar and Pemba was elevated by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum Administratio the diocese of Zanzibar and the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam is a suffragan.
