Romeo Castelen

Romeo Erwin Maurits Castelen ( May 3, 1983 in Paramaribo, Suriname) is a Dutch footballer ( midfielder ) of Surinamese descent.

Career

Association

Castelen played from the 2004/05 season as a striker or midfielder for Feyenoord Rotterdam. Before that, he spent four seasons at ADO Den Haag under contract, where he played in youth since 1998. In the season 2000/ 01 he made his debut for The Hague in the Eerste Divisie. He came this year to a total of three applications. The following year, established the striker and had regular periods of use. With the conclusion of the 2002 /03 rose to the Eredivisie ADO. After a personally good first season in the top Dutch league Castelen moved to Feyenoord. Besides Dirk Kuyt and Salomon Kalou he was already in his first year at Rotterdam at the top performers on the offensive.

In preparing for the season 2006/07 Castelen seriously injured. This he lost his place and had this season only a few inserts for Feyenoord. Rotterdam was only seventh in the league and failed to qualify for a European competition.

Despite Castelens frequent injuries, which allowed it to deny only 26 Duty games in four seasons, prolonged HSV its June 30, 2011 expiring contract for another year. National

As the Netherlands U -21 national football team, he was at the U- 21 Football Championship in Portugal in 2006 European Champion.

Castelen was also nominated several times for the national team. Previously, he was ten times for the A-Team in the use of the national team, scoring one goal.
