Ron Stackhouse

Ronald Lorne Stackhouse ( born August 26, 1949 in Haliburton, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his career for the California Seals, Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Ron Stackhouse began his career in 1967 at the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey Association and was two years for the team active. Then he went for the Providence Reds of the American Hockey League and the Seattle Totems of the Western Hockey League on the ice. Stackhouse had already been selected at NHL Amateur Draft in 1969 by the Oakland Seals in the second round to 18th position.

From 1970 to 1971 he ran for the now renamed California Seals franchise and then moved for three years to the Detroit Red Wings. Although he also played there regularly, he never qualified with the team for the play-offs. During the 1973/74 season Stackhouse left the Red Wings and went to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In more than eight years in Pittsburgh the Canadians fell on mainly due to its offensive strength and went down in history when he in an NHL game six Assists reached in March 1975, which succeeded beside him only five other defense. In the play-off series, he has had little success with Pittsburgh and never reached a final series for the Stanley Cup, even though he ran aground in just 900 NHL games. In 1982, he finished his career.
