Ron Zwerver

Ronald Ferdinand "Ron" Zwerver ( born July 6, 1967 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch former volleyball player. He was in the 1990s one of the dominant personalities of the international volleyball.

Ron Zwerver played in his youth, in addition to volleyball and soccer and baseball. In 1983 he came to the top club Martinus Amstelveen. He was four times Dutch champion under coach Arie Selinger and took third place three times in the European Champions Cup. In 1992, the external attackers and defensive specialist in the Italian league for the top club Sisley Treviso, where he played six years and three times Italian champion. In addition Zwerver won the 1994 European Cup Winners' Cup, the 1995 Champions League and the 1998 CEV Cup. After a season in Belgium in Knack Randstad Roeselare he ended his active career in 1999.

Ron Zwerver played 463 times between 1986 and 1996 for the Dutch national team. He participated in three Olympic Games and won the silver medal in 1992 in Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta gold medal. Another highlight was winning the World League in 1996. He has received several "Best Attacker ", "Best points scorer " or " Most Valuable Player " award.

After his playing career, Ron was Zwerver volleyball coach. He was initially under Peter Blangé assistant coach of the Dutch national team, then from 2007 to 2009 Head Coach of Ortec Rotterdam Nesselande and since 2009 Coach of HvA volleyball in Amsterdam.
