Ropice

Ropice (Polish Ropica, German Roppitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south of Český Těšín and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

Ropice is located in the Valley of the Ropičanka in Beskidenvorland near the border with Poland. Through the community, the state road 11 / E 75 and the railway line Český Těšín Frýdek- Místek leads with the stations " Ropice " and " Ropice zálesí ". North leads past the railway line Žilina - Bohumín, there is on the headland between Ropičanka and Olsa the breakpoint " Ropice zastávka ". To the east lies the industrial area of ​​Třinec. Southwest of Ropice there is a golf course.

Neighboring towns are Rakovec Svibice, Český Těšín and Błogocice in the north, Punców in the northeast, Konska in the east, Staré Město, Třinec and Canada in the southeast, Nebory in the south, Rakovec and Střítež the southwest, Kozačinec and Vělopolí in the west and Horni Žukov, Kozačinec and Dolni Žukov in the northwest.

History

Ropice was applied to the 13th century of 12 at the transition. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1305 in the tithe register of the diocese of Breslau. At the beginning of the 15th century a fortress was built. Since 1430 the gender of Sobek of Kornice as owner of the domain is detectable. 1693 Rudolf Sobek died of Kornice, subsequent owner was Philippe de Saint Genois. He who converted the fortress into a baroque palace. Charles Saint Genois sold the reign 1785 Gabriele Countess Cselesta, born Skrbenský of Hriste. Of the Cselesta Cselestin of the Lords of Mattencloid acquired the possession. In 1804 the village consisted of 101 houses and had 732 inhabitants. The castle was a castle chapel. Residents of the village lived mainly from agriculture. I also had a brickyard, a quarry, and three grinding mills, a fulling mill and a sawmill line at the Ropičanka.

After the abolition of patrimonial Roppitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Teschen. At this time the mining of iron ore, which was processed in the Trzynietzer iron works was. The neighboring iron works was also to employers for many of the residents. 1862 bought Emanuel Spens floor of the castle. 1871 was built north of the railway from Košice Roppitz to Oderberg. The train was inaugurated in 1886 by Teschen to Friedeck led directly through the town.

From 1920, the village belonged to the district Český Těšín. In 1926, Hermann Kuenburg - Spens owner of the castle. In 1938 Ropica as part of Olsagebiets to Poland. From 1939 to 1945 Roppitz belonged to the district of Teschen and came back after the war with Czechoslovakia. 1945 Count Kuenburg - Spens would expropriated and the goods incorporated in the state farms. The castle was used since that time for residential purposes and as an administrative building, this was omitted necessary conservation measures at the building. After the dissolution of Okres Český Těšín the community in 1961 associated with the Okres Frýdek- Místek. In 1980 Ropice was incorporated under the name Třinec XV- Ropice after Třinec, since 2000, the municipality is again. In 2004, an 18- hole golf course opened.

In Ropice lives a strong Polish minority residing just under 29 % of the population ( 2001).
