Rosières-sur-Barbèche

Rosières- sur- Barbèche is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Rosières- sur- Barbèche is located on 540 m, 11 km south-west of Pont -de- Roide, and 24 km south-southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a plateau south of the Barbèche, above the little valley of the Ruisseau du Moulin, at the northern foot of the Mont du Fonteny.

The area of ​​5.31 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Rosières, which is on average 540 m. This area is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. It is bounded to the west by the dale of the Ruisseau du Moulin and on the east by a further side stream of Barbèche. To the north it falls with a 50 m high escarpment from the Valley of the Barbèche. To the south, the municipality's area extends over a wooded slope to the height of Mont de Fonteny where 790 m is the highest point of Rosières- sur- Barbèche is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Rosières- sur- Barbèche are Valonne in the north, Péseux in the east, Froidevaux, La Grange and Provenchère in the south and Vernois- lès- Belvoir to the west.

History

In the Middle Ages Rosières first belonged to the dominion of Belvoir and then to that of Châtillon- sous- Maîche. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Rosières was officially renamed in 1923 in Rosières -sur- Barbèche.

Attractions

The village church of Saint -Sébastien was inaugurated in 1807 and has wall paintings of Joseph Aubert.

Population

With 97 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Rosières- sur- Barbèche is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area of ​​130-155 people, a continuous decline in population was recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Rosières- sur- Barbèche was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a factory which produces feed. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. The main access is from the secondary road that leads from Noirefontaine through the valley of Barbèche after Sancey- le -Grand. Further road links exist with Provenchère, Péseux and Vernois- lès- Belvoir.
