Rosularia

Rosularia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae ( Crassulaceae ). The botanical name of the genus is derived from the Latin word " Rosula " for Small Rose and refers to the combined rosettes leaves.

Description

The species of the genus Rosularia are dwarf, mostly perennial, herbaceous, often aromatic, bald or glandular hairy plant. Its roots are formed either as fibrous or thickened taproot, or they are caudiciform and swollen. The flattened or spherical rosettes are sitting and rarely on short stems. You are single or have sitting or lying down and extended foothills. The more or less succulent, flat or keeled leaves are oblong to broadly spatulate. Your leaf margins are entire, glandular- hairy and covered with bristles or finely toothed.

The lateral or terminal inflorescence is erect or decumbent. The urns, tubular or funnel-shaped flowers are narrow to wide bell-shaped or star-shaped. You are sitting, but more often also stalked. The flowers are five - or five-to neunzählig and obdiplostemon. The petals are fused to one-tenth to three-quarters to one another. They are white with green or pink to red Vein or light yellow, pink, pink, purple or something pinkish brown. The stamens are shorter than the petals and fused at the base with them.

The fruit is a follicle upright. The light to dark brown, oblong ellipsoid seeds contained therein are 0.5 to 1.3 millimeters in size.

Systematics and distribution

The genus Rosularia is widespread in the eastern Mediterranean, Asia Minor, the Middle East, in the Karakorum Mountains and the Altai Mountains.

The first description as a section of the genus Umbilicus took Augustin- de Candolle Pyrame in 1828. Otto Stapf raised the section 1923 in the rank of a genus. After Henk 't Hart (1944-2000) subdivides the genus Rosularia into two sections with the following types:
