Rovshan Bayramov

Rövşən Bayramov (also Rövşän Bayramov; born May 7, 1987 in Baku, Soviet Union) is an Azerbaijani wrestler. European champion in 2007 and 2008 and silver medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and 2012 in London, each in the Greco-Roman Bantamweight.

Career

Rövşən Bayramov began in Baku in 1999 as a teenager with the rings. After early successes einstellten, he became a member of one of the most successful Azerbaijani wrestlers clubs, " Neftchi " Baku. He wrestles only in Greco- Roman style. He is trained by Hijran Scharifow. The 1.60 meter tall athlete wrestles bantamweight, the weight category up to 55 kg body weight. Since the age of 18, he is member of the military.

The international career of Rövşən Bayramov began in 2002, when he finished at the Junior European Championship ( Cadets = age group up to 16 years ) in Odessa in the weight class up to 46 kg of body weight 3rd place. He won the same seat at the European Junior Championship ( Cadets ) 2003 in Rostov-on- Don in the weight class up to 50 kg body weight. In the same year, he then even succeeded in winning the title at the Junior World Championship ( Juniors = age group up to age 18 ) in Istanbul, where he was Junior World Champion was in the same weight class with five wins.

In 2004 he attempted to qualify the age of seventeen for the Olympic Games in Athens. However, he failed here in Tashkent with a 14th place in the bantamweight. In the European Championship 2004 in Haparanda, he won in his first fight against the strong Bulgarians Venelin Wenkow, but lost his next fight against Bayram Ozdemir from Turkey and came to 9th place.

In the Junior European Championships in 2004 in Murska Sobota Rövşən Bayramov came because of a defeat in the quarterfinals against the Russians Daniel Krimow to a rather disappointing for him 5th place in the bantamweight. At the Junior World Championships 2005 in Vilnius him then again succeeded with a 3rd place medal win at an international junior championship. In this year he also started at the Senior World Championships in Budapest and came up with wins over Sergei Skrypka from Germany and Svajunas Adomaitis from Lithuania and a defeat against Olympic champion István Majoros from Hungary on the 7th Place.

In the senior he was then from 2006, ie from the age of 19 immediately on the road to success. At the European Championships this year in Moscow he came bantamweight after losing in the semifinals against Venelin Wenkow that surprised him and defeated him after 3.13 minutes 11-0, to 3rd place and at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou / China he came to the final, in which he, however, the Iranians Hamid Soryan Reihanpour subject to.

In 2007 he succeeded at the European Championships in Sofia the first title in the seniors. With victories over Sasaridis Ioannis from Greece, Ville Käki from Finland, Kristijan Term of Serbia and Saur Kuramagomedow from Russia, he became European champion bantamweight. At the 2007 World Championships in Baku, he defeated with Roman Amojan from Armenia and Jiao Hua Feng from China, two world-class wrestler, but subsequently lost to Park Eun- chul of South Korea and Nasir Mankijew from Russia and reached only the 10th Place.

In 2008 Rövşən Bayramov then won at the European Championships in Tampere his second European title at bantamweight. He won among others against Nasir Mankijew, Jani Hapamäki from Finland and the final battle against Roman Amojan. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he struggled with wins over Moustafa Hassan from Egypt, Jagnier Hernandez, Cuba & Roman Amojan up in the final, where he met his long-time rival Nasir Mankijew. This case had the happier end and won this very balanced fight with rounds 2-0 and 6-5 technical points. For Rövşən Bayramov thus remained "only" the silver medal.

In 2009 Rövşən Bayramov launched in some international tournaments for the first time at featherweight. But most of the European Championship in Vilnius, he trained again from many kilos to start bantamweight can. Obviously he was but thereby much weakened, for he came in Vilnius only to a victory over Oleg Lawruwjanec from Lithuania and then lost against Alexander Kostadinov of Bulgaria, with which he retired and finished only 9th place. At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London Bayramov won the silver medal. He thrust forward to the final, where he lost to the Iranians Hamid Soryan Reihanpour.
