Roy Del Ruth

Roy Del Ruth ( born October 18, 1893 in Delaware, † April 27, 1961 in Sherman Oaks, California ) was an American film director.

Roy Del Ruth grew up with a four- year-older brother, Hampton Del Ruth, on. He was actually a journalist. In 1915 he began to write screenplays, and worked as a gag writer for Mack Sennett. Two years later, he led the first -time director, among other comedians as Billy Bevan and Harry Langdon.

For Warner Brothers, he turned mainly suburban dramas and thrillers, and he later worked at MGM, where he directed musicals especially. Overall, he has been involved in over 110 productions as director, from the mid-1950s in several television series.

He was married to actress Winnie Lightner since 1934. Together they had a son, Thomas Del Ruth.

He died on April 27, 1961 of heart failure. In his honor, there is a star on the Walk of Fame.
