Royalty (grape)

Royalty (including California S 26 Royalti ) is a red variety. It is a new breed of 1938 by Harold Olmo between varieties Alicante Ganzin and Trousseau. The crossing took place at the University of California in Davis, California. Due to the influence of the variety Alicante Ganzin is a hybrid vine of Vitis vinifera family - Vitis rupestris. It was simultaneously released in 1958 with the variety Rubired. Since her return, however, significantly lower than Rubired fails, it is not so successful. It is grown almost exclusively in California (→ Viticulture in California ) to around 271 acre = 109 acres.

The late-ripening variety is moderately tolerant to powdery mildew and downy mildew and provides dark colored wines. Therefore, it is very good ( internationally known as Teinturier ) as a dyer grape suitable. Locally it is also used as a table grape.
