Rune Velta

Rune Velta ( born July 19, 1989) is a Norwegian ski jumper.

Career

The launching of the ski club Lommedalen IL Velta began his international career in 2007 in the FIS Cup. After good results, he started in September 2008, the first ski jumping Continental Cup. After this he could jump on top rankings for the first time in Oslo in March 2010, he was nominated for the Ski Jumping World Cup. He took on 14 March 2010 for the first time at a World Cup competition part, but it won no points. In the summer it was first used in the Grand Prix. After failing to qualify in Hinterzarten and Courchevel, he succeeded in Liberec qualification and subsequently as 32 ​​missed the second round just barely. A few days later he was able to qualify again in Klingenthal and finished the next day surprisingly the 7th Place. At the beginning of winter, he was appointed to the Norwegian team in the National Group in Lillehammer, Norway. The two competitions he won surprisingly the 17th and 10th place. After he was disqualified in the Four Hills Tournament 2010/11 in Oberstdorf and in the other three competitions failed to qualify, he was transferred back to the Continental Cup squad. In ski flying in Vikersund he belonged again to the World Cup squad, reaching in both competitions the 16th Place. The season he finished in the Continental Cup on the 66th place in the overall standings. In the Norwegian Championships in March 2011, he finished in a single second behind Anders Bardal and won like last year, the team competition with the team of Akershus.

At the opening event of the 60th Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf on December 30, 2011, he reached the third best Norwegian 18th place he could at the second event in Garmisch -Partenkirchen still improve this place by landing as the second best Norwegian in 11th place. He took this place in the overall standings. On January 15, 2012, he reached in ski flying in Bad Mitterndorf with eighth place his best ever World Cup result. On 11 February 2012, he won with the Norwegian team, the opening event of the FIS Team Tour to Mühlenkopfschanze in Willingen and was able to win his first World Cup victory.

On February 25, 2012 he scored his biggest hit up to that point, when he was vice- world champion in ski flying in Vikersund.

In the 2012/13 season he succeeded on January 9, 2013, Wisła with a third place, his first podium finish in a single World Cup competition. Veltas best individual score in the World Cup dated from the same year: end of the season he won the ski flying in Planica second place.
