Rush Rush is a pop ballad, which was released on 2 May 1991 from Paula Abdul's second studio album Spellbound. The song was written by Peter Lord and produced by him and V. Jeffrey Smith (both members of The Family Stand ). In the U.S., the single longest number -one hit, after Madonna's Like a Virgin from the year 1984.

Background

Rush Rush was the first ballad of Abdul that she released as a single. Previously, she has released six uptempo pop / dance singles from their debut album Forever Your Girl.

Music Video

The music video is inspired by the James Dean movie For they know not what they do. In addition to Paula Abdul Keanu Reeves plays the male lead. Director of the video clip was Stephan Würnitzer.

Commercial success

Rush Rush debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 11, 1991, ranked # 36 and reached five weeks later on June 15, 1991 # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for five auffeinander following weeks at the top. So Rush Rush is at 5 weeks, the longest and most successful number -one hit, after Madonna's Like a Virgin, which spent the winter 1984-1985, 6 weeks at number 1.
