Saint-Seurin-de-Prats

Saint -Seurin -de- Prats ( Occitan: Sent Sieurin de Prats ) is a southwestern French village with 478 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region.

Location

Saint -Seurin -de- Prats is located on the north bank of the Dordogne at a height of about 10 meters above sea level. inst in the far west of the department of Dordogne, close to the Gironde department. The nearest major town is about 39 km ( driving distance ) located east of Bergerac, the capital of the arrondissement.

Demographics

In the 19th century the number of inhabitants of about 950 dropped in 1800 to about 575 in 1900.

Economy

In earlier times, the residents of the community lived as subsistence agriculture, which included the wine and a little livestock. Since medieval times part of the wine produced in the area was shipped in barrels and on rafts or barges over the Dordogne and the ports of the Gironde to England and Northern Europe.
