Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc

Saint -Vivien -de -Médoc is a commune in the Gironde department. It lies in the district Lesparre -Médoc and is the capital of the canton named after her Saint -Vivien -de -Médoc. The community belongs to the community association Communauté de Communes de la Pointe du Medoc.

Saint -Vivien is located about 75 km north-west of Bordeaux.

Population

The 1643 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) with main residence come during the summer months added several hundred people, Frenchmen from the interior as well as other tourists.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Vivien, which can be seen also on the municipal coat of arms is very old. It goes back to the 6th century, but received after several destructions its present form in the 12th century in the Romanesque style. The steeple, however, is a supplement of the 20th century: it was built in 1957.
