Sainte-Trinité, Paris

The parish church of La Trinité ( German: Holy Trinity Church) is located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris on the Place d' Estienne d' Orves, at the beginning of the Rue Blanche, in the extension of the rue Saint- Lazare and the Rue de la Chaussee d' Antin. ( The latter was designed so that you have a view of the church to the Opéra Garnier ). The present station of the Métro line 12 was named after the church.

History

Before the construction of the church was a famous cabaret named La Grande Pinte in place. After its closure in 1861 started the construction work. To the architects of the given by Baron Haussmann in order Théodore Ballu construction was appointed, who built the church in the style of the French Renaissance. Although the interior was very luxurious, with completion only lasted about six years. The cost was then nearly four million francs. Completion was in 1867. During the same year the church was consecrated. Here the funeral of Hector Berlioz was held on 11 March 1869. In 1986 Trinité is the first church in France, which was entrusted to the Emmanuel Community by the then Archbishop of Paris Jean- Marie Lustiger, to jointly revive the pastoral service. The bishops Dominique Rey and Benoit Jacques - Gonnin were prior to their appointment pastor of Sainte- Trinité.

Organ

The main organ of the church goes back to Aristide Cavaillé -Coll and was built in the years 1868-1871. 1901 subsequent modifications ( especially in the area of intonation ) by the company Merklin, 1934 more by the firm of Pleyel - Cavaillé -Coll, which also included the installation of additional registers. 1962-65 the tracker action was electrified, the modified wind loading, renewed the gaming table, and built seven new registers. This work was carried out by the company Beuchet - Debierre (Nantes). After an overhaul in 1979 (Jacques Picaud, Olivier Glandaz ) carried out the 1993 posthumous work of Olivier Messiaen shortly before his death changes, which in turn were carried out by Olivier Glandaz. The original (1871 ) 46 registers comprehensive instrument has since Register/82 60 pipe ranks on three manuals and pedal with electric play and stop action. The organ has the following disposition:
