Sakata, Yamagata
Sakata (Japanese酒 田 市, - shi) is a coastal city in Yamagata Prefecture in northwest Honshū, the main island of Japan.
Geography
Sakata is located south of Akita and north of Tsuruoka on the Japan Sea. The town lies at the mouth of the River Mogami into Japanese sea.
History
Sakata became a town on April 1, 1933.
