The Samara (Ukrainian Самара ) is a left tributary of the Dnieper River and flows through the steppes of southern Ukraine. It has a length of 320 km and a catchment area of 22,600 km ².

From its source in the western Donezrücken ( ukrain. Donezkyj krjasch ) in the Donetsk Oblast of the river flows through the oblasts of Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk, before he joins in Dnipropetrovsk in the Dniprodserschynsker Reservoir, which is used for irrigation and fish farming.

The average discharge is near the mouth of about 20 m³ / s The amounts of water are highly variable, as the river is mainly fed by snowmelt.
