Sankt Konrad

St. Konrad (the place also Sankt Konrad ) is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Gmunden Traun in the district with 1097 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

St. Konrad is located between Lake Traunsee and Almtal the headwaters of the Laudach on the 580 m above sea level. A. height.

The expansion is 5.6 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.5 km. The total area is 19.2 km ². 50.5 % of the area is forested, 43.8 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Neighboring communities

Against the foothills of the Alps towards borders St Konrad at Kirchham, for Almtal to Scharstein, in the south Katzenstein and Laudachsee form the border to Gmunden, in the west the Laudach forms the borders of Gmunden and Gschwandt in Gmunden.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

In 1991 the community had 923 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1033 inhabitants.

The stylized "K" in 1993 conferred municipal coat of arms is as a starting point for both the place name and for the Kremsmünster, the parish of St. Konrad is incorporated. The green color refers to the high forest and meadow share in the community.

Regional Policy

St. Konrad belongs to the tourist region Almtal, which was established on 1 January 2013. Thus, St. Konrad oriented towards the east, not toward the Traunsee.

Municipal seat is the village of Sankt Konrad. It is located approximately 30 kilometers south of Wels, halfway. Between Gmunden and Scharstein in Almtal, in the center of the community It is the Talung of Kotbachs that flow at Kranichsteg of eastern Laudach. This west-east grazing Talzug forms the actual core area of the community over which the B 120 Scharnsteiner road connects Gmunden - Scharstein.

The village itself comprises about 40 addresses, and lies partly in the cadastral St. Konrad, but partly in the west adjacent Edt ( about 10 houses). This Sankt Konrad is largely overgrown.

The town of Sankt Konrad includes about 150 buildings with more than 550 inhabitants. To the village area into the valley include the rotting Pühret and the houses of Strasbourg against Scharstein out the mason on the mountain south, the rotting houses, the homestead Reith and the rotting Hueb on the southern slope of the valley, and the rotting Duerrenberg and the homestead neck, the pass summit to Almtal out.

The cadastral St. Konrad with about 640 acres includes about the town area, as well as north and south adjacent parcels between the municipal boundaries of Upper Riedel ( 806 m above sea level. A. ) and high Riedel ( 1043 m above sea level. A. ).
