Schmiedefeld (Lichtetal)

Wrought (Lichtetal ) is a municipality in the district Saalfeld- Rudolstadt, in Thuringia ( Germany ). The municipality belongs to the administrative community Lichtetal am Rennsteig, which has its headquarters in the town of light.

Geography

Wrought field is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains between the towns of Saalfeld ( north ) and Sonnenberg ( south ) on the southeastern slope of the 802 meter high hill roughness in about 700 meters. Southeast of the village the landscape continues to fall down from the gorge -like valley of the donor stream. South of forging field is the district Taubenbach.

History

Wrought field was first mentioned in 1414 and was originally owned by the Earl of Orlamünde. 1426 was the place to House of Wettin to the Office Grafenthal. From 1826 to 1920 Wrought field belonged to Saxony -Meiningen (district Saalfeld ). In 1920 the state of Thuringia was founded and subsequently divided into counties, the location came to the district of Saalfeld.

During the Second World War, 110 prisoners of war from Poland and France had to do forced labor: in the iron ore mine and the Röstofenanlage.

In 1952 a municipal reform under which Taubenbach incorporated and the town blacksmith field was assigned to the circle Neuhaus. Since 1994 part of the site to the district Saalfeld- Rudolstadt.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 8 November 1991. Blazon: "In a red -curved golden spike, covered with a black, rotbewehrten lion, which is surrounded by six red hearts, accompanied in front by four crosswise arranged silver nails and the back of a silver spruce rooted. "

Economy and infrastructure

Wrought field was once a settlement of miners, as many different ores (iron, copper, gold ) were degradable here. Iron ore has been mined since 1663. The iron ore mine acquired in 1888 Maximilianshütte Unterwellenborn. It was closed in 1972. After forging field was also - as in the entire slate mountains - the glass industry as a new source of income added. Today, the site mainly of various small industries and tourism is alive.

Transport links

Wrought field is located on the main road 281 that leads from ice rink and Neuhaus am Rennweg to Saalfeld. The place had 1898-1998 a railway connection to the railway line Sonneberg- Neuhaus- Probstzella -Saalfeld with the railway station in the district Taubenbach.
