Schönfeld, Saxony

Schonfeld is located in the northeast of the county Meissen directly to the Saxon- Brandenburg border and not far from the Konigsbriicker Heath a municipality in Saxony. It is the seat of the administrative community Schönfeld.

Geography

The surrounding communities are the towns outskirts and Kroppen in Oberspreewald -Lausitz of the federal state of Brandenburg in the north. In the northeast and east, the municipality Thien village adjoins the south, the municipality of Ebersbach and in the east the municipality in the district of Meißen Lamperswalde. The Federal Highway 98 connects the city Schönfeld in an easterly direction with the Federal Highway 13, which runs through the municipality. The city of Grand grove is located 25 kilometers west of Schonfeld. The site was created on saale cold temporal sediments with Grauwackedurchragungen in a depression in a springing at Liega creek. The district of the town stretches east to Federal Highway 13 South of the village extends the Kienheide, a wooded area.

History

In 1216 the first documentary mention is done. Tammo de Sconevelt is called as a witness in the transmission of the village and the church Zadel by the Margrave Dietrich to the monastery Altzella.
