Schüttorf (Samtgemeinde)

The Samtgemeinde Schüttorf is an amalgamation of five municipalities and the city Schüttorf in the Lower Saxony district of Bentheim. The administrative headquarters are Schüttorf.

Structure

The Samtgemeinde Schüttorf consists of the following municipalities:

  • Community Engden: 44.27 km ², 439 inhabitants
  • Community Isterberg: 20.29 km ², 590 inhabitants
  • Without community: 9,00 km ², 584 inhabitants
  • Community Quendorf: 14.08 km ², 549 inhabitants
  • Community Samern: 25,99 km ², 719 inhabitants
  • City Schüttorf: 19.43 km ², 12,342 inhabitants

History

On 14 December 1970, the Samtgemeinde Schüttorf was founded, this initially consisted of nine municipalities: the city Schüttorf and the communities Engden, Drievorden, Neerlage, Wengsel, Without, Quendorf, Samern and Suddendorf. On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Engden and Drievorden to the municipality Engden and the municipal areas Neerlage and Wengsel to the municipality Isterberg. To November 1, 2011 Sudden village was incorporated into Schüttorf.

The task of the velvet municipality is to perceive joint planning tasks to promote tourism and to take over the disposal of sewage and garbage. In addition, adult education, promotion and creation of cultural institutions and civil status fall within its remit. The Samtgemeinde is managed by Samtgemeinderat, the Samtgemeinde Committee and the Joint municipality mayor and has its own seal.

Policy

The policy of the velvet municipality is subdivided into administrative and Council of the velvet municipality and city council and municipal council of the member municipalities. The local authorities of the municipalities is voluntary, the integrated municipality mayor works full.

Since December 1, 2005 Manfred wind house (independent) is the first full-time mayor Samtgemeinde. In the direct election on September 22, 2013 he was confirmed with 77.06 percent of the votes cast for a further eight years in office. It was started a rival candidate. The turnout was 72.67 percent.
