History
The place name is derived from " Schwenden " ( clear ). A Lappenaxt found in the municipality of Schwendt points to the 8th century, but the place was first mentioned only in 1160. At that time there was already here the important pass route down to Kössen, over the pass Klobenstein direction Aschau in Bavaria, Schwendt was considered a small trading.
In the Middle Ages mining was also in Schwendt. In the surrounding areas were found lead and iron. The mining was discontinued in the late 19th century.
