Semiha Yankı

Semiha Yanki ( born 1957 in Istanbul) is a Turkish singer and was the representative of Turkey to the Euro Vision Song Contest 1975 in Stockholm, and thus the first representative of Turkey in the competition.

Born into a circus family of artists they already occurred in their childhood and in their youth as an acrobatic circus. After her brother, a tightrope walker, died in an accident during a performance, she left to work in the circus and moved to the music.

In 1975, she represented Turkey in the Euro Vision Song Contest with the song Seninle bir dakika ( German: " A Moment with You" ). In the Turkish pre-decision, there was a tie between Seninle bir dakika and Delisin ( German: " You're crazy " ), which was sung by the time in Turkey very successful girl band " Cici Kızlar ". The subsequent draw between the two songs Semiha Yanki was by luck of the draw to the first Representative of Turkey to the competition.

In Stockholm she attended the debut of Turkey with only 3 points from Monaco last. Turkey subsequently withdrew from the competition for a few years back and came back in 1978.
