Sergey Savelyev

Sergei Petrovich Savelyev ( born February 26, 1948 in Raitschichinsk, † October 29, 2005 at Istra) was a Russian cross country skier who competed for the Soviet Union in the 1970s.

At the Olympic Games 1976 in Innsbruck, he was 30 km Olympic champion and won with the Soviet relay behind Finland and Norway the bronze medal. His triumph over the 30 km distance he could repeat two years later at the Nordic World Ski Championships. In 1978 he was awarded the Soviet decorations.
