Shag Rocks (Massachusetts)

Shag Rocks is an island in Boston Harbor. It is located 10 mi ( 16.1 km ) from Boston's city center on the territory of the State of Massachusetts United States and has an area of approximately 1.3 acres ( 0.5 ha). It is not managed and is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.

Due to their nature, it is not possible to reach the island. The rock was for many years a great danger to navigation, and many ships sank in the immediate vicinity. It was not until the start of the Boston Light on the nearby Little Brewster Iceland allowed a warning of the captains and support in recovery missions.
