Shilin Yi Autonomous County
The Autonomous District Shilin Yi (石林彝 族 自治县Shilin Yizu Zizhixian ) is located southeast of the city center of Kunming, capital of Yunnan province. Administratively Shilin is a part of the prefecture-level city of Kunming.
Shilin has an area of 1777 km ² and around 230,000 inhabitants (2003 ). Approximately 34 % of residents are ethnic minorities in China, mainly of Yi nationality.
Administrative Divisions
At the community level, Shilin of a road district, three large municipalities and a community is composed. These are:
- Road district Lufu (鹿 阜 街道), the seat of county government;
- Greater community Changhu (长 湖镇);
- Greater community Guishan (圭 山镇);
- Greater community Xijiekou (西街 口镇);
- Community Dake (大 可 乡).
Photovoltaic
The end of 2008 was in Shilin by the company based in Kunming Yunnan Tianda Photovoltaic Co., Ltd.. started the construction of the largest photovoltaic power plant in Asia. Covering an area of 173 ha is to be built a power plant with a capacity of 166 MW. After completing the first phase electricity should already be fed into the grid in late 2009 in the amount of 10 MW.
Attractions
Shilin (石林) to German " Stone Forest ", is a about 120 km southeast of Kunming preferred impressive karst landscape. The up to 30 -meter-high sculptures were flushed out over time from the stone. Part of the Stone Forest was prepared for tourists with walks and it will require an entry fee.
