Shine On Brightly

Occupation

Shine On Brightly is the second album by the British progressive rock band Procol Harum. It was taken from the end of 1967 and published in the fall of 1968.

The album

On the first page, five are from the piano Gary Brooker and Matthew Fisher's Hammond organ dominated pieces, but also Robin Trower on guitar comes into play. The second side begins with the nostalgic Magdalene (My Regal Zonophone ) followed by the almost 18 minute rock Suite In Held 'Twas In I. The title of the suite is from the opening words of the parts formed:

The suite begins with a longer spoken arcade, at the end of a Kōan the Dalai Lama stands on the question of the meaning of life: Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, is not it? This is followed by virtuoso classical and psychedelic passages, the funny 'Twas Teatime at the Circus and finally the bombastic Grand Finale.

Procol Harum played hero in 'Twas In I 1971 at the Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Suite- like pieces were included in the result of some bands of the classic progressive rock, such as Ars Longa Vita Brevis and The Five Bridges Suite by The Nice, Tarkus Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Supper's Ready by Genesis and Close to the Edge by Yes.

The album was released in Europe and the U.S. with different cover art.

Reception

Shine On Brightly was reached in 1968 ranked 24th in the U.S. charts.

Wrote Bruce Eder of Allmusic that the album had expanded the definition of progressive rock, even if much of the music remains rooted in established rock genre. The Suite In Held 'Twas In I comes everything gone by bands like The Nice and The Moody Blues were equal in length and exceeds it in boldness. He gave the album four out of five stars.

The band Transatlantic coverte In Held 'Twas In I in 2000 on their album In SMPTe as hero ( ' Twas ) in I ie without the part ( 'Twas Teatime at the Circus) but with longer Glimpses of Nirvana.
