Sielenbach

Sielenbach is a municipality in the Swabian district Aichach -Friedberg and a member of the administrative community Dasing.

Geography

The village lies in the valley of Ecknach midst of a tertiary hills, about seven kilometers south-east of the county town Aichach. With approximately 1450 inhabitants and an area of 17.87 km ², it is situated on the state road in 2338, the combination of Aichach to the motorway A 8 Munich -Stuttgart.

History

A farm estate in the district Tödtenried with typical brick kilns for archaeological material is dated to the Roman period.

In the 12th century still called Sielepach, Suolempach and Syelenpach, you find the place name Sielenbach already 1241st Later the forms Sylenpach and Siellenpach appear. In the 11th and 12th century, the monastery Altomuenster owned several farms in Sielenbach, since 1518 held the Lords of Weichs possession in Sielenbach. 1611 acquired the Commander of the German north house to Blumenthal possession of the Weichser. The old castle Stunzberg was destroyed in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War by Swedish troops. In the course of secularization, the German house was dissolved in 1803 to Blumenthal. The right of presentation to the parish came to Bavaria and Sielenbach was a separate municipality. From the legend of a miraculous image in a hollow pear originated from 1661 to 1668, the pilgrimage church of Maria Birnbaum, whose pastoral care first of the German Order, then in the 19th and 20th century Capuchin supervised. Since 1998, the German religious acts again in Maria Birnbaum, he renovated the monastery buildings and revived the pilgrimage again. The community Sielenbach is now the longest street village of the district Aichach- Friedberg. The municipality Sielenbach have always been among the districts Schafhausen, Rader Stetten and the wastelands Gollenhof and Schoenberg.

Incorporations

The local government reform, which came into force on 1 January 1978, the neighboring village Tödtenried was incorporated with its local Haslach and Schrötenloh after Sielenbach.

The Coat of Arms description is: Shared by Silver Yellow and Blue; above a continuous black Tatzenkreuz, where a golden lily is placed, below left silver side rafters.

Attractions

Known far beyond the municipal boundaries is the baroque pilgrimage church of Maria Birnbaum. It was built 1661-1668 by Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal, the Commander of the Teutonic Order in the neighboring district Blumenthal.
