Simi Garewal

Simi Garewal ( born October 17, 1947) is an Indian film actress and television presenter.

Life

Born in a Sikh family in India, she grew up in England. As a teenager, she came barely Hindi speaking back to India to be an actress. Her film debut was in 1962 in a film directed by Mehboob Khan. In the 1960s and 1970s, she appeared in Hindi films, winning twice, 1966 and 1968, a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has worked with India's leading directors, including Raj Kapoor (Mera Naam Joker, 1970), Satyajit Ray ( Aranyer Din Ratri, 1970), Khwaja Ahmad Abbas (Do Boon Pani, 1971) and Yash Chopra ( Kabhi Kabhie, 1976). She stepped into the Hermann Hesse Siddhartha film version (1972 ) alongside Shashi Kapoor as a courtesan Kamala. Her acting style was restrained and she sang cool, elegant women. You did not occur in the usual dance scenes.

In the 1980s, Simi Garewal ended her film career and turned to writing and film production. She has her own production company, Siga Arts International, which it acquired through its Rajiv Gandhi Documentation India's Rajiv nationwide attention. In addition to her Hindi film Rukhsat ( 1988) has also produced television advertising. Since 1999, she moderated for STAR TV, the TV show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal in which they interviewed movie stars and other Indian celebrities.

Due to their elegant appearances in film and television, often in white clothing she has acquired a name as ' The Woman In White'.
