Simon Jones (musician)

Simon Jones (* May 29, 1972 in Wigan ) is a British musician. He is a founding member and bass player for the British band The Verve, which became known for his hit single Bittersweet Symphony.

Musical Career

With the Verve took Simon Jones from 1990 to 1999 a total of three albums, three special compilations and twelve singles on until it finally dissolved itself with its second breakup in 1999. Initially, the band was without Richard Ashcroft and Pete Salisbury still together, until finally each followed his own path. 2000 calls for Jones with John Squire ( ex -Stone Roses) a new project to life, from which ultimately became the band The Shining. These three years later broke up already again.

Since 2004, Simon Jones is committed as bassist with Cathy Davey. He has temporarily justified by Mark Heaney ( ex- The Shining ) and Jeff Wootton a new band in late 2006. In 2007 it came to the reunion of The Verve, which he released another album and two singles. Since 2009 he runs with guitarist Nick McCabe ( The Verve ), violinist Davide e- Rossi ( Goldfrapp ) and drummer Mig Schillace his new band project, The Black Ships, which calls itself since 2012 Black Submarine.
