Simon Nielsen (ice hockey)

Simon Nielsen ( born October 27, 1986 in Herning ) is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender, who was most recently at Lukko Rauma in the Finnish SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Simon Nielsen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Herning Blue Fox, for the first team to 2006 he was active from 2002 in AL-Bank Ligaen. With the team the goalkeeper won the 2003 and 2005 Danish championship. From 2006 to 2008 he played for league rivals Henings Rødovre Mighty Bulls. He subsequently received the 2008/09 season a contract with the Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League. In this he was dismissed after a weak performance again, whereupon he first returns in the rest of the season after Herning, for which he only once stood between the posts. The season itself, he finished at SaPKo Savonlinna in the Mestis, the Finnish second division. In SaPKo he spent the entire following season.

In the 2010/11 season playing for AaB Ishockey Nielsen in the AL -Bank Ligaen. There he was able to recommend with good performances for a contract with Lukko Rauma of the Finnish SM- liiga. In the following two years he was playing second goalkeeper in Lukko, but was also repeatedly borrowed for a few games to teams from the second Finnish league, the Mestis. After the 2012/13 season, his contract was not renewed.

Internationally

For Denmark, Nielsen took at junior level at the U18 Junior B World Cup 2003 U18 World Junior Championship in 2004 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2005 and 2006 in part. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships A- 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. During the first four tournaments at senior level, he remained as a substitute goalkeeper without use. Only at the tournament in 2012, he stood in four games between the posts.

Family

His brother Frans Nielsen is also a professional hockey player. His father Frits Nielsen was a professional ice hockey player and then worked as a hockey coach.
