Snět

SNET ( German Sniet ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers north-west of Humpolec and belongs to Okres Benešov.

Geography

SNET is on the left side of the flooded with the drinking water reservoir Švihov Želivkatals on a ridge in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. South of the valley of the creek is Blažejovický, via its confluence with the reservoir, the remains of the castle Zahrádka ( Monastery Hill) are located. On the opposite shore stands the church of St. Vitus, which stood until 1976 in the center of the patch Zahrádka. West of the village rises the Hurka (546 m), which is also known as Blažejovický vrch.

Neighboring towns are Šetějovice and Dolni Rapotice in the north, Kamenná Lhota and Dolni Paseka in the northeast, Horni Paseka in the east, Podivice and Hojanovice the southeast, Ježov and Vranice in the south, Blažejovice in the southwest and Vraždovy Lhotice and Marti Nice u Dolních Kralovic in the northwest.

History

SNET was founded in originally by dense forests lined Sprengel Queen Swatawa, in the course of its settlement by the Vyšehrad collegiate chapters. The first written mention of the village was in 1350, when the church of St. Peter and Paul was listed as one of the parishes of the deanery Štěpánov. The village was one of the prebends of the canons of Vyšehrad. 1359 was the Peter von Hornbach, followed from 1390 January Sádlo of Smilkov, after Wilhelm von Rosental and ultimately Nicholas Ubaldinův.

After the destruction of Vyšehrad by the Hussites received Nicholas Trček of Lipa in 1436 the parish as a gift. During the 16th century, the owners changed frequently. 1603 Samuel bought Diwisch Vokrouhlický Langendorf the place, he was succeeded by Albrecht Vražda of Kunwald. 1618 had Radslav Jaroslav of Wchynitz and Tettau and Wenzel Vražda the Younger of Kunwald the place. The offspring of both held SNET to 1698, then acquired Johann Leopold Donat of Trautson and Falkenstein, the gentlemen Unterkralowitz and Martinitz. He was succeeded in 1766 by Karl Josef Palm Gundelfingen and from 1844 Prince William Vincenz von Auersperg.

After the replacement of patrimonial SNET gained independence in 1848. In 1910 the school building, designed by architect Bohumír Šilinger. In 1926 a major fire broke out and burned at the of the 68 houses in the village 27. 1945, the estates of the Prince Auersperg were confiscated.

From 1974, the flooding of the valley of Želivka by the dam was Švihov; the same spots Zahrádka was dissolved and flooded large parts.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Peter and Paul, the 1350 first mentioned church received its present Baroque appearance when converting from 1778. The bell is a work of Kuttenberger Glockengießer Master Ondřej Ptáček from 1473.
