Socket P

The base P, also PGA478MN, is a processor socket, Intel has developed for the fourth generation of its Centrino notebook platform. It was presented on 9 May 2007 and replaces the socket M from. Processors based on the Intel Core microarchitecture with a front side bus up to 266 MHz ( FSB1066 ) are provided for this socket. However Side Bus created offshoots for Socket P for most still selling processors with lower front. Only the ULV processors, the Core 2 Solo series continue to be produced for Socket M, since the first Socket P Chipset hold more power than the last chipsets for Socket M.
